Melissa + Tommy's Black-and-White Wedding at The Olana

Melissa and Tommy envisioned a classic black-and-white wedding with organic-style flowers and The Olana was the perfect backdrop with ornate architectural details and chandeliers in every room. We curated a mix of white romantic, delicate blooms and paired them with greenery for elegant floral touches from an arch at the altar to centerpieces and elevated arrangements for the reception.

The floral arch at the altar made a big impact in the space with a mix of Hydrangea, Roses, Stock and Limonium — a great blend of blooms that ended up looking both lush and airy. The venue’s mirrored wall behind the altar reflected the arch from all angles and created a great effect in the small space. The aisle was lined with ground arrangements of white Delphinium and Larkspur strategically chosen for height.

For the reception space, we designed a mix of low compote centerpieces and tall arrangements for the guest tables. White taper candles on the head table tied in with the white flowers, and etched glass containers and candle holders gave the tablescapes a classic feel and added some texture.

Gold chargers were another great accent to the place settings and kept the tables simple and elegant. The ground arrangements from the ceremony were repurposed in front of the band stage for another floral focal point.

The bridal party’s bouquets were done in a manicured, organic-style design and featured a mix of classic blooms and delicate textures — Rose varieties, Peonies, Ranunculus and Sweet Pea — all in white. These brought home the black-and-white scheme with the bridesmaid’s gowns.
