Organic and Classic: Elevated Garden-Style Photoshoot

This week we’re sharing some details on a classic event design concept that we captured in a styled shoot with Boxwood Hospitality and Sami Kathryn Photography at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas. Elegant, classy, and obviously neutral, white flowers are the most timeless of choices, and look great no matter the season or venue. We had so much fun dressing this amazing tent-like venue structure in endless white blooms and greenery!

To elevate (literally) the design concept from being limited to the tables, we hung vines from the ceiling of the tent to make the space cohesive and organic-feeling. Paired with fairy lights, these brought all the whimsical vibes! Two other staples were the arrangements that decorated the bar. In simple and classic stone urns, these statement pieces framed the bar area and brought some brightness and light in through the white flowers.

Throughout the reception area, we decorated the guest tables with small compote arrangements full of lush white blooms and touches of greenery. The stars of the table decor, several tall arrangements added depth and height throughout the space. Pops of blue added some dimension to the setup, with bright yet subtle linens on the dining tables and patterned blue and white tablecloths over the cocktail tables. Natural-wood chairs added to the organic feel and helped create an elevated garden-party atmosphere.

The bridal bouquet for this shoot was so bright and fresh, with many of the same white statement blooms like Peonies, Frilly Tulips, and Clooney Ranunculus. A mostly-white bouquet looks flawless with a traditional ivory wedding dress, and brings so much depth and dimension despite a neutral color palette. This bride was so gorgeous and classy in her gown that while simple, had the most intricate touches of lace. The perfect look for a garden-style outdoor reception!

Adrienne + Tyler's Intimate Afternoon Wedding

This week’s blog features the lovely and intimate afternoon wedding of our sweet couple Adrienne and Tyler. These two held a small ceremony at Watermark church and reception at Communion Neighborhood Co-op. We had so much fun coordinating and designing flowers for this wedding, and love how these photos by Jennefer Wilson turned out - so classy and dreamy!

For the ceremony at Watermark, we designed a semi-circle of ground arrangements for the altar as well as matching ground pieces along the aisle. This space is full of rich, warm-toned wood and stone and keeping the floral color palette simple with white/ivory and green was a great complement! Even though Adrienne and Tyler’s ceremony was scaled back guest count-wise, BSR Wedding Films was there facilitating a high-quality livestream for remote attendees!

A laid-back reception followed where guests enjoyed appetizers, cake and drinks at Communion Neighborhood Co-op. We decorated this space with compote arrangements and bud vases with white blooms — simple, but so effective at bringing in some life and freshness! White linens, natural-looking floral elements, and a classic neutral wedding cake, made this reception utterly upscale and elegant-feeling!

Adrienne’s bouquet featured some of the same white blooms, including peonies, ranunculus, and larkspur, with some dark green Huckleberry for that sophisticated and refined look. Her bridesmaids’ metallic gold midi dresses looked stunning with their bouquets as well - we loved this whole wedding party’s look with their pops of gold and green in the groomsmen’s ties!

Shades of Yellow: Bright Autumnal Styled Shoot

Today we’re sharing a fun vision that came together and was beautifully captured thanks to amazing photographers Charla Storey and Jennefer Wilson. This curated photoshoot was a great exercise in designing with a monochromatic color scale, because all of the floral arrangements and installations featured nothing but yellows/golds (and greenery, of course)! We aimed for a modern, artistic, and subtly bohemian style with these designs, and love the way it all came together!

For a portrait-style photo moment, we designed an asymmetrical hanging installation that framed our bride overhead and on the ground next to her. Full of those yellow, gold, and brown tones, and countless different textures, this setup makes for a super visually interesting statement!

The table design highlighted the color palette further with orange-yellow candlesticks, pieces of fruit styled down the center, and of course some compote arrangements that brought in some of the same blooms seen in the hanging installation. We also added some ikebana arrangements as charming floral touches that serve as the center of their own mini design moments along the table.

This bridal bouquet showcases more of this striking color palette and has so much depth and movement! From soft butter yellow to dark gold and amber, this bouquet would be appropriate for a wedding in almost any season of the year!

Even two brides who aim for similar color palettes can easily end up with wildly different floral design concepts. On top of the near-endless color and shade possibilities, there’s also such a wide variety of texture to explore. No two weddings’ flowers are exactly alike, and we love the journey of finding those unique textures and shapes that match the venue, decor, and most importantly, the couple!

Jessica + Blake's Vibrant and Cheerful Garden Wedding

Between all of the things you’ve been planning for that you think you can control, and those you can’t (like the weather), you might find yourself holding your breath as you near your big day in hopes that nothing goes wrong. In all of our wedding experience, we can truly say that things do always work out. We’ve seen stormy skies miraculously clear up just in time more than once, like we did on the day of our sweet bride Jessica’s wedding. It was such a fun adventure to coordinate her wedding to Blake and design their flowers too!

For the ceremony, held outside at Marie Gabrielle Restaurant and Gardens, we designed a large garden-style arch for the altar, full of greenery and voluminous clusters of those beautiful bright flowers. In front of this lush arch, and in front of gorgeous trees strung with fairy lights, this ceremony was so dreamy and whimsical!

Their indoor reception was filled with the same bright springtime hues as the arch, and classy yet playful gold accents, like those found on the chargers and candle holders. The table centerpieces were in low vases that matched the gold theme, too. On other tables, we put together clusters of bud vases with a few statement blooms in each. We loved the way these pink, purple and orange blooms brought the vibrant spring vibe while still looking so soft and elegant!

Jessica’s bouquet featured her favorite flower, Coral Charm Peonies, as well as Tulips, Sweet Pea, and rose varieties, and perfectly matched Jessica’s own bright and cheery personality. Her bridesmaids’ bouquets followed suit and paired so beautifully with their nude-colored dresses.

Jaime + Zach's Classic Ballroom Reception

We, like everyone else, can spend hours browsing through photos of wedding trends on Pinterest and Instagram. But we can’t deny our love for the timeless style of a classic ballroom wedding! This week, we’re looking back on Jaime and Zach’s gorgeous reception at The Carlisle Room, which had no shortage of classy blooms and details. 

Their ceremony was held at Park City Baptist Church, a beautiful setting for “I dos” that we added two large arrangements to at the altar. These pieces closely mimicked the style of Jaime’s bouquet, with a high density of bright white blooms and lots of greenery! We also added subtle touches of the same flowers and greenery to the pews - a detail you can’t go wrong with!

After the ceremony, guests migrated to The Carlisle Room in Dallas for the reception. This venue is the epitome of grandeur and elegance, and fit right in with our couple’s vision. In terms of flowers, we designed arrangements that sat on tall gold stands for some of the guest tables, and decorated the rest with low, smaller centerpieces and candle accents. Playing with varying heights in a big space is always fun and makes for such an interesting overall visual effect. The Carlisle Room, which is a remodeled bank, added so much personality to the feel too!

This wedding design was composed of a pretty simple color palette: whites/ivories, deep blues/black, and gold. But the visual impact is so stunning! The gold accents already present throughout the venue, and the gold chairs at the reception added that little extra interest and made the whole room more dynamic!

Jaime’s bridal bouquet mimicked the classic style and color scheme of the altar and table arrangements, with cascading greenery and orchids. In stunning navy blue gowns, her bridesmaids’ stunned with their matching white bouquets!
